They’ll never learn

Good news? Only for a few years. Long term, moving to another black country was tremendously stupid.
Right now blacks still remember eating rats. In another generation, they will claim that it’s “racist” to allow whites to run farms and will demand “justice” by turning over productive farms to blacks who will destroy them.
Will these people never learn?
Musa Mogadi says he is better off since “the whites” came. He’s got a new job, learned new farming skills, and he can chat on a mobile phone while zipping around the countryside on a motorbike.
Three years ago, Mr. Mogadi got by as a subsistence farmer. But he now earns a regular wage as a supervisor on one of this town’s new commercial farms.
He’s applied skills he learned from some of the two dozen white Zimbabwean farmers who moved to Nigeria in 2005, after being kicked off their land by President Robert Mugabe and later attracted by large parcels of land on offer under 25-year leases and commitments of support from the Nigerian government.
Production on his farm is now up.

Some whites from Zimbabwe have moved to Nigeria to take over farms there. You may be right in your prediction of the future, that the blacks with throw them out at some point down them road. But then again, you may be wrong. In any event, what they have done is, in itself, a good thing. They have taken marginally productive farms and increased their productivity, enabling large numbers of people to have a much higher standard of nutrition. I don’t find any blame in that; how can you?
I have to imagine that they want to stay in that general part of the world. They don’t want to go to England, Australia, New Zealand, etc., but they want to remain in Africa where they have made their homes. That is not unreasonable. In the same way that we want to remain here in the US and will resist efforts to displace us, they don’t want to be displaced either.
I have to say I find their actions more admirable than to be condemned.
My problem with what they’ve done is that they are placing the lives of their kids in danger. When blacks turn on them and kill their children in 25 years, how will they feel about themselves knowing that their decision to move to Nigeria and not New Zealand is the cause of their child’s death?
When you continue to live in the US, you are placing your children’s live in danger likewise. Have you considered moving to New Zealand?
We all make choices about where we will live, and the place we think of as home is usually the place we chose. They chose a place close to home. It is not the choice you or I would be likely to make, but I certainly cannot fault them for it.
There are hazards involved in moving to New Zealand. It is an extremely left leaning society, with a “Church” that is only marginally Christian. I would not move there for those reasons. Everywhere we might go, there are things not to like.

No! they have not taken over farms. Get that fact right. They did not take over farms, steal farms or enslave the poor locals. They were givin farming consessions by the Goverment with tremendous advatages to the locals. But of course these new prospoures farms will be claimed or resettled once they become too sucsessful.
